To mark the 30th anniversary of the New Hamburg Classic Races in 2009, our main event, the 8K Classic, became the Hamburger Hill 7 Mile Road Race, challenging participants to take on the Baden Hill.

In 2008, the 8K started at the Wilmot Recreation Centre and took runners to the top of the hill and back for the first time.

In 2009, the 7 mile route was an even more demanding course, over the hill and back. The 3K Race returned to challenge runners of all ages along with the FREE 1K Fun Run for kids 10 and under, and the FREE 200M Dash for kids 5 and under.

The event was part of Wilmot Healthy Communities Week.

HITTING THE ROAD again May 8, 2010

All of the more than four dozen volunteers involved in making the 29th annual New Hamburg Classic Races a huge success were invited to an appreciation barbecue Sept. 22, 2008. During the barbecue, race organizer Ted Seyler presented cheques totaling more than $9,000 to the four local charitable groups that benefit from the races each year. Accepting the cheque on behalf of the New Hamburg Volunteer Firefighters is Howard Wiebe, Liz Klassen, executive director of Aldaview Services, chair of the board at Wilmot Family Resource Centre Stephen Funk, and Harold O’Krafka on behalf of the Wilmot Recreation Complex Fundraising Committee.
